Peter Peteet – Poet

Peter Peteet is a published poet, painter, and canoe preservationist.

“I was born in Georgia with lots of beautiful wilderness but was unable to perceive it as wilderness until areas such as Cumberland Island and the Chattooga River were proclaimed and protected as Wilderness Areas.

I consider our personal perception of wilderness to be a crucial part of our responsibility to contribute to the mainstream perception.  When we see ourselves as “visitors who do not remain” rather than those who have dominion over all, we are humbled and released; free to take possession of our physical bodies in real time, in this one place where we can contribute and belong.”
